Bermuda is one of the leading insurance centers in the world with a strong asset protection mechanism, easy access to all international financial areas, no currency or investment restrictions and no tax liability for policyholders.

Insurance companies are under rules similar to banks with supervision by the Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA) pursuant to the Insurance Act 1978.

Besides the protection granted to policyholders under the Insurance Act 1978, the Bermuda Legislature passed the Nordica Life (Bermuda) Ltd. Act, 1997 into Law. This Private Act of Parliament enables a policyholder to request Nordica Life (Bermuda) Ltd. to establish a separate account for his policy. The assets in such a separate account are legally segregated from the other assets of the company. The effect of creating a separate account, is to ensure that the assets linked to a policy, are available only to the policyholder or beneficiary on this specific policy, and not to other creditors of Nordica Life (Bermuda) Ltd.
